Immerse yourself - Subsea 7

Delve deeper into the Subsea 7 success story.

At Subsea 7 we’re building on our success and showcasing our investments as we continue to chase our goal of being the Subsea Partner of Choice for more of the biggest players in the oil and gas industry. With our impressive fleet, global expertise, resources and technology, we generated a revenue of $2,187m in 2007 – an increase of 31%. That meant a 56% increase in net profits for us and it’s looking good for the future with a 12% increase to a $4,200 million backlog with work to the year 2014.

Having opened a new office in Rotterdam in 2007 and increased personnel numbers in London to 130+, we will open our new state–of–the–art Campus Office in Aberdeen in 2008.

At Subsea 7 we’re always looking for ways to work better and smarter. We recognise that our bids and projects are becoming increasingly larger and technically more challenging. So in response we’ve created a new Gateway team to pool our best technical/commercial knowledge and win projects valued in excess of $100m. For the same reason we’ve also created 17 global Centres of Excellence to support our bid and project teams. 17 Critical Supply Networks are now in place to ensure even more effective relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, and in our new Vessel Support Teams we have centralised the knowledge and expertise of our principal pipelay and construction assets.

Our values as an organisation are to be Safe, Clean, Smart, Fair and Anywhere. For our employees, the benefits are impressive. They know we’ll help them reach their full potential, and give them every chance to work with the latest technology. They also know they’ll benefit from honesty and fairness, as do our customers and sub–contractors. And, given our global reach, our employees can look forward to global opportunities, and some of our UK–based roles can involve extensive travel.

A recent employee survey suggests that we’re getting it right when it comes to people. 83% of those asked said that Subsea 7 is a high quality organisation. We also made a good showing as an employer, being rated highly by 78%. And an impressive 92% of those surveyed said they’d recommend Subsea 7 as a good place to work.

These results were certainly backed up with our performance at the Scottish Offshore Achievement Awards, the UK industry ‘Oscars’, where we were runners–up in the Succeeding Through People category. Subsea 7 also took the top award for Export Achievement due to our impressive rate of growth in the Africa region – and best of all, we were honoured with the overall Outstanding Achievement Award. Not content with one set of awards, The SERPENT Project, (Scientific & Environmental ROV Partnership using Existing iNdustrial Technology) of which Subsea 7 is a founding partner, has been nominated as one of only a handful of finalists at this year’s prestigious EU European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE) from a selection of 86 UK entries.
